Presenting D5.2: Advancing the EOSC Core Service Management System
The summer of 2024 was a dynamic and productive period for the EOSC Beyond team, and we are now pleased to announce the release of EOSC Beyond Deliverable D5.2: "SMS Status, Plan, and SQA Activities." This document serves three primary purposes:
- Current Status Analysis: It provides a detailed explanation and analysis of the current status of the EOSC Core Platform Service Management System (ECP SMS), developed by the team working on Lot 1 of the EOSC procurement contract "Managed Services for the Development, Integration, Deployment, and Operation of the Federated EOSC Core Platform." The analysis draws on lessons learned and experiences from the SMS developed in EOSC Future.
- Proposed Innovations: The document proposes innovative features, methods, and tools to improve scalability, automation, and self-service within the EOSC SMS. The product teams will analyse and prioritise these proposed enhancements, with a subset potentially implemented during the project.
- Release and Deployment Management: It outlines a plan for Release and Deployment Management, along with Continuous Integration (CI) and Software Quality Assurance (SQA) methodologies that will be promoted and enforced for all software components developed by EOSC Beyond.
The deliverable details the steps to propose these enhancements and the SQA activities implemented to ensure high-quality software development practices throughout the project. The innovations and methodologies described in this document are crucial for advancing the EOSC Service Management System and aligning it with the needs of the EOSC Federation.
The full document is now available on the project's Zenodo community. Please note that this deliverable is currently under review by the European Commission.
